Diploma in Nautical Studies (DNS)- 24 months Deck Watch keeper Program

Diploma in Nautical Studies is a lucrative, Career-oriented course. A DNS Course demands an e f f e c t i v e a n d high level of knowledge and competency in Navigation, Seamanship, Cargo handling, and Ship Operations. Training is provided in specialized fields like Ship construction, Drafting, Ship Stability and Navigation. Cadets are also exposed to workshops comprising of Carpentry, Plumbing, Machines and Electricals .

 

Training also includes teaching cadets the importance of teamwork, leadership, positive attitude, and interpersonal qualities..

 

At Maritime college we bring this DNS program approved by Maritime New Zealand in association with NMIT first time in India. It is the shortest and assured career path to success. It is a 6 months Pre Sea course at Maritime College followed by a 15 months On Board Training with an assured sponsorship and a 3+1 months comprehensive Program at New Zealand for obtaining Certificate of Competency from Maritime New Zealand.

 

Future Prospects and Career Options

 

DNS Course offers many employment and educational opportunities. Candidates can make their Career at Sea as well as at Shore. DNS cadets after obtaining their CoC can start as a 2nd Officer at sea and build their career upwards up till Captain . They may also find job-oriented opportunities in academics, consulting firms, government, non-government industry and owning their own businesses and startups.

Minimum Academic Qualification : 12th/intermediate (PCM) and other streams

Age Limit : 25 years on the date of commencement of course

Medical Fitness : The cadets are required to produce certificate for medical fitness by a Doctor approved by The Directorate General of Shipping.

Eyesight : The cadet's vision should be 6/6

Trainee Marine Engineer (TME)MECIII- 20 months

 

The program is constructed for candidates who want to become Marine Engineers. The course deals with the production, design, functioning, and maintenance of marine equipment and its operations. The course enlightens students on both applications of engineering in Marine Science and Marine Technology .It also brings in the concept of operating various nautical engineering systems and basic electronic components.

 

We bring this TME program approved by Maritime New Zealand in association with NMIT first time in India. It is a 5 months Pre Sea course at Maritime College in India followed b y a 12 months On Board Training with an assured sponsorship and a 3 months comprehensive Program at New Zealand for obtaining Certificate of Competency from Maritime New Zealand.

 

Future Prospects and Career Options

 

Job opportunities for Trainee Marine Engineer graduates are available in both Public sector as well as in Private sector. A TME on obtaining the CoC can start the Career as a MEC 3 officer and build it upwards up till Chief Officer. Options for Marine Engineers are not only limited to on-board job roles but there are various other fields such as Teaching, Programming, UPSC, Maintenance Officers, etc.
